The Orthodox Christian Marriage by Priest Alexey [now Hieromonk Ambrose] Young Orthodox Christianity is a way of life, not merely something we do on Sunday mornings and quickly forget when we leave church. A way of life is a whole coming together of habits and attitudes, ideas and actions: For us Orthodox, Christianity is our daily bread. Like a fish in water, we must swim in our Faith. As followers of Christ, we take our whole direction from Christ and His Church, and not from the standards of today’s world. Most of us Orthodox Christians do not live in monasteries; we are married; we have homes, children, jobs.
We’ve really hit it off and she’s probably the coolest girl I’ve met in a long long time. A little back story: Her parents are both Egytians who immigrated to Canada separately in the 80’s where they met. They moved to the US and got married and started a family sometime after that. So she was born in the States and raised here. Her parents live a state away, as she moved to my home state for a job after she graduated college so meeting them anytime soon probably isn’t going to happen.

Friendship and Love March 30, Dear Father in heaven, please help me find peace within my heart and soul. I trusted Ameen Alhubaishi to be my friend, I trusted him when he told me he loved me, but unfortunately he did not value my friendship or my love. I know with my your grace I will be fine and this pain will make me a better person. I forgive him for what he has done to me just like Jesus Christ would expect from me as a Christian.
However, I want this prayer request to go out to him. I pray that God touches his heart and realizes that love, friendship and family are so precious especially in the world we live in today.

Copts in Egypt claim they still suffer discrimination and persecution today. In the early 19th century their position improved dramatically under the stable rule of Muhammad Ali, however, the situation went south again in when Gasser Abdel Nasser came to power. Page 11 of 13 Fasting The Coptic Church is an ascetic church that believes in the power of fasting in the life of the believers. Fasting is not considered a physical exercise, but rather it is an offering of inward love offered by the heart as well as the body. The Lord, Himself, the Word Incarnate, fasted before undergoing trial and undertaking His ministry on our behalf. We therefore fast with Him to attain victory and blessings at work, and to be able to proceed in the spirit and not according to the flesh Rom.
The Lord fasted for forty days Matt. In this way He declared that fasting is not deprivation, neither is it a restraint upon the body. The church requires us to fast and abstain from food for a period of time to experience hunger. The Lord Himself experienced hunger Matt. It is believed that Imhotep, the supreme official of King Djoser C. Historically, ancient Egyptians initially used a civil calendar based on a solar year that consisted of days only, without making any adjustment for the additional quarter of a day each year.
However, in the mean time, they knew an astronomical calendar which is based on an astronomical concept namely the heliacal rising of a bright star called Sirius “Canis Major, the Dog Star” at the dawn of the eastern horizon. The day on which the heliacal rising of Sirius occurs marks the first day of the year.
